How jobs work

A job is work you've booked in. A visit is one occasion someone turns up. Here's how the two fit together.

A job is work you've booked in for a client — what you're doing, where, when, who's doing it and what it's worth.

A visit is one occasion someone actually turns up. A one-off job has a single visit. A recurring job — a fortnightly service, say — has a visit for each time you're due on site, and HiTradies creates them for you from the schedule you set.

That's why Jobs in the sidebar opens into two lists:

• Jobs planned — the jobs themselves
• Visits scheduled — every individual visit across all your jobs, which is where you mark work complete and invoice it

A typical flow

1. Create a job — either from scratch, or by converting an accepted quote.
2. HiTradies schedules the visit or visits from the dates you set.
3. When the work's done, mark the visit as completed.
4. Generate an invoice from the completed visits — see Invoices.

Before you start

A job needs a service address, and that comes from the client's record. If a client has no address saved, the job can't be submitted — so add one on their profile first. See View a client's profile.
